SWOS 2000 : The Request List
Will it happen?
Before the debacle that was Sensi World Cup 98
(which GT Games forced Sensi to release), the new Sensible Soccer
was being produced under the working title of SWOS 2000, which
is yet another indication, of the way that Jon Hare would like
to see his new brainchild progress. All he needs now, is the
funds to back up these ideas.
Now, under the wings of Codemasters, inside sources
have revealed that Sensi 2000 is in the early stages of developement,
but it must be stressed that it has not yet been backed by Codemasters,
although confidence is high that it will get the go-ahead.
The Unavoidable Wanted List (Have YOUR say)
With Sensi 2000 seemingly on it's way, why not
let the powers that be know exactly what you would like to see
in this new game, should it happen. The chart below is compiled
from my own, and other peoples ideas, and votes have been compiled
to show the most popular ideas.

1.)
Career/Season option - The option to play out a
whole career with promotion, relegation, cups and European
qualification would make the game a whole lot appealing
and there would be more of a challenge and each season would
have more of a point, and the lastability would be far greater.
This of course, would also mean - more teams.

2.)
Highlights - SWOS allowed you to save your most
memorable moments quickly and easily. It allowed you to
show off your spectacular strikes to all your mates. This
should be added to SWOS 2000. Even if the game had to be
interupted when you wanted to save a highlight, it would
be better than nothing.

3.)
Real names - We want player names that we can identify
with. The license may be expensive, but the credibility
of the game will be increased beyond all boundaries.
34
4.)
Transfer market - One of SWOS's greatest appeals
was wealing and dealing in the transfer market. It was always
a great challenge trying to fish out the bargains in a sea
of second rate overseas players.

5.)
Better Player reactions - Strikers that run into
the box, when the wingers are about to cross the ball, keepers
that dash off their lines to clear the ball, when the defenders
are nowhere, wingers that charge up the lines, when midfielders
are in possession, etc etc.

6.)
Storing records - The game holds details of record
results between teams.
28
7.)
National Coach option - allowing you to pick your
own squad of players.
28
8.)
In built team editer - It would certainly make my
job a lot easier - Hex editing is not a lot of fun!!
23
9.)
Make it harder! - I can't believe I overlooked this,
when I first compiled this list! SWOS 2000 MUST be MUCH
more challenging than Sensi ECE 98. Swaziland 3 - 1 Nigeria
should NOT be possible!!
22
10.)
Tactics Editer - Bring back the SWOS tactics editor
- the Sensi 98 editor just isn't flexible enough!

11.)
Real time goal flashes - During a competition other
matches are played between the computer simutaneously to
the one you play against a computer team. An option could
be added to flash up the score of the other matches as the
goals are falling. It could be useful for Championship /
relegation deciders.
21
12.)
Better Crowd chants - Crowd chants with recognisable
lyrics, crowds that react to the game, gasps for near misses,
louder cheers for a home goal, cheers for every pass completed
in a long passing movement, boo's for naughty away players
and so on. And at every ground in the land, some kind of
rousing tune is played to welcome the team on the pitch,
and to greet a home goal, so why not include something like
this in the game. And what about an announcer who screams
out the name of the goalscorer after every goal, and pronounces
the away players names wrong. Yes Please!
21
15.)
Player Manager option - An option allowing you to
play as a single player within a team, where all the other
players are computer controlled.
21
13.)
Better Goalkeepers - Goalkeepers that don't always
get beaten by aftertouch, that can handle a backpass, that
come for crosses and that don't flap at every high ball,
would be nice.
19
21.)
More specialised transfer stuff - Bosman ruling,
contracts, wage discussions, player value rises/falls, other
teams buying/selling from each other etc.
17
16.)
Better penalties
16
20.)
Player retirements/youth players - Much like CM,
it would be nice if players aged, and new players came through
the youth system.
16
19.)
Replications of famous stadiums - with replicated
backdrops, pitch sizes, etc etc.
15
17.)
Better Commentary - No disrespect to Jon Hare, but
a proper commentator is needed, and proper commentary, which
flows with the game, rather than just butting in every five
minutes. This is one area, in which I must admit, FIFA has
an advantage over Sensi.
15
14.)
A practice option
14
25.)
More financial options - The ability to negotiate
sponsorship deals, increase stadium capacity, etc etc.
13
22.)
Larger squads.
12
26.)
More buttons! - Most PC Joypads or Joysticks have
at least 4 buttons. Introducing individual buttons for shooting,
passing, lobbing and bursts of speed, would not only make
the playability more varied, but it would make spectacular
moves, shots etc much easier to pull off.
12
18.)
3D card support
10
23.)
View Computer Vs Computer games option.
9
27.)
Introduction of the offside rule
8
24.)
A fantasy season - with bizarre futuristic rules,
new and different competitions and basically anything else
which Sensible Software could think of throwing at you over
the course of a season or career.
7
28.)
Network Option - The ability to play with people
over the internet, and such.
